Der zu seiner Zeit als „Dompteur der Orgel“ gefeierte Organist der Pariser Kirche St. Eustache Antoine-Edouard Batiste hat ein quantitativ wie qualitativ beachtliches Werk hinterlassen. Vorliegendes Offertoire d-moll, op. 3 erschien erstmals 1857 im 4. Band der „Musée de l’organiste“ (S. 32 ff.) und bildet vermutlich seine erste veröffentliche Orgelkomposition.
